What is your Microbiome and how this video changed everything for me

Gut Microbiome
Did you know you have an army of helpful warriors throughout your body? They fight every day to boost your immune system, support your heart, balance your weight, and so much more.

This army is called your microbiome. It's made of all sorts of different microorganisms. In fact, there are over 40 trillion bacteria cells in your body and only 30 trillion human cells. Turns out, you're more bacteria than human!

When this microbiome gets harmed, you can only imagine how hard it is for you to stay healthy. In this email, I'm going to go over some of the key areas of your health that are impacted by your microbiome. In my next email, I'm going to show you how to support them.
What areas of health are impacted by our microbiome?
Microbiome and Weight
An imbalance of unhealthy microbes in our gut creates a condition called gut dysbiosis; this condition may contribute to weight gain, bloating, and gas.Several well-known studies have shown that two identical twins can have completely different gut microbiomes resulting in dramatically different weights and health-levels between the two. This shows our microbiomes are not genetic.Proper restoration of the microbiome can help with weight loss, and taking probiotics - either naturally in fermented foods or through a probiotic supplement - can be incredibly helpful for this process.
Microbiome and Gut Health
We've already mentioned that an imbalance in gut microbes can create gut dysbiosis, gas, and bloating, but did you know this can also be a painful experience? The cramps and abdominal pain caused by gut dysbiosis can be very challenging to live with and can even create food intolerances and strong, negative reactions to certain foods.By balancing the gut microbiome, it's possible to slowly restore digestive health and proper digestive function. Certain key bacteria found in probiotics can even seal the gaps between intestinal cells to prevent leaky gut syndrome.
Microbiome and Heart Health
Heart health has always been one of the most important indicators of longevity, but did you know your microbiome impacts your heart too?Recent studies have shown the gut microbiome plays an important role in promoting good HDL cholesterol and triglycerides, while also reducing harmful cholesterol levels. Certain unhealthy microbe species can also contribute to heart disease.
Microbiome and Blood Sugar Level
Blood sugar spikes are directly correlated with damage to the body and increased signs of aging. Your gut microbiome can help control your blood sugar, which helps prevent this damage.

Studies have shown correlations between a healthy microbiome and proper blood sugar balance. Other studies have shown that different people who eat the exact same foods have completely different blood sugar responses, and this is likely due to the types of bacteria in their gut.

In this email, I'll give you two great options to learn the basics in a fast and fun video. The first video (here) is by Science ABC. They teach the biome basics in a playful cartoon, which is packed with educational content. The second video (below) is by doTERRA. They just came out with the first video in their new microbiome 3-part series. It's more detailed and offers more practical information in addition to the science, so definitely watch it if you're looking to make big improvements.
